“Public Works is an outdoor exhibition throughout the city of Rotterdam featuring the work of over 670 visual artists, designers, photographers, illustrators and image makers on outdoor billboards.
Publieke Werken is a response to the void created by corona. Nothing was going on, so we wanted to fill the void with imagination. The 2020 edition was an overwhelming success and the artists showed great commitment to this project. Together we could make the city more beautiful and interesting. Due to success, the project was repeated. In 2021, the theme "Everything is possible" was chosen. Especially after a year in which so much was not possible, it is interesting to imagine together what would happen if everything were possible. At first it seems like an innocent theme. But if everything is possible, don't you cross the boundaries of others? That which is considered possible for one person can be hurtful to another.”

Public Works ist eine Freiluftausstellung in der Stadt Rotterdam, bei der die Arbeiten von über 670 bildenden Künstlern, Designern, Fotografen, Illustratoren und Bildgestaltern auf Plakatwänden gezeigt werden.
Public Works ist eine Antwort auf die durch Corona entstandene Leere. Es war nichts los, also wollten wir die Leere mit Fantasie füllen. Die Ausgabe 2020 war ein überwältigender Erfolg und die Künstler zeigten großes Engagement für das Projekt. Gemeinsam konnten wir die Stadt schöner und interessanter machen. Aufgrund des Erfolgs wurde das Projekt wiederholt. Für 2021 wurde das Thema "Alles ist möglich" gewählt. Besonders nach einem Jahr, in dem vieles nicht möglich war, ist es interessant, sich gemeinsam vorzustellen, was passieren würde, wenn alles möglich wäre. Auf den ersten Blick scheint es ein unschuldiges Thema zu sein. Aber wenn alles möglich ist, überschreitet man dann nicht die Grenzen der anderen? Was für den einen möglich ist, kann für den anderen verletzend sein.
